WHAT IS KULT?
It's a party, it's a vibe, it's a closeness,
it's a sense of belonging.
HISTORY
KULT has been on the go for over 5 years. It was formed as
a part of the renowned 3 clubs in 1 club, Triology. Since
it's inception it has acheived highlights in ID magazine,
Big Issue, Daily Express, The Guide, This
is London and Hot Tickets.
KULT first showed
it's face at the Dungeon, Vauxhal and has done one-offs in
The Monastery, Normandy, a free party in Stroud, guesting
at the ICA, played at Burning Man, Nevada, the Legalize
festival in Amsterdam, Surgery at the Clinic and many
more. KULT has also had residencies at George IV,
Brixton, Sound Bar, Leicester Square and 230 Club,
Soho.
MUSIC POLICY
The music at KULT varies more than your average tech-house
night. We're more of a tech-house do that doesn't play tech-house.
It's all about quality, funky house and techno. Sometime's deep,
sometimes hard, sometimes unexpected, but always arse wiggling.
RESIDENTS
The residents are myself (dub), Nic
Larsen and Steve Merrylees.
I have been dj'ing for around 10 years and producing music around
5 years. I have released 1 EP in '98 and am currently waiting for
a release on Warp
Records. I have also produced music for Marc Silver's Burning
Man - Comunity or Chaos film for Channel 4, Tomorrow's World
Live show, a web game and a fetish fashion show. Nic Larsen
has been DJ'ing since 1997 and has played some of the best parties
around. His style encompases the very best in techno and house music,
with a strong Detroit vibe flowing through his sets. He also embrases
the deep dubby sounds of German techno house, European and US electronics,
electro and harder techno. Steve Merrylees started DJ'ing
and putting on club nights in rural Norfolk in 1992. Now 27, he's
been lugging his decks and record box to nights he's put on throughout
Norfolk, Bradford and Exeter before he moved to London in 1998.
Steve's credits include Varination, the first night of Open,
World Of Trouser (The Annexe, 230 Club), arches parties in
Brixton, all the infamous Triology parties (The Dungeon,
ANC, Trenz, The Premises), the first Big Chill Enchanted Garden
festival, the only techno DJ to play at the International Drum
& Bass convention in Normandy (France) and recently the
incredible Big Chill in Naxos, Greece
